What a wonderful Easter!
Hi from Dothan! I had a wonderful time in Birmingham last week. I love being with Brian&Kristen and Beth&Dustin. We had a great time with Rob and Laura and Clay and Jeanna too. Rob is my new best friend because he'll talk gardening with me. How blessed all of you are to have each other.
It has occured to me that Brian may be all grown up. There are several indicators:
He owns his home and his home doesn't have pictures of Bruce everywhere. His roommate is not one of his cousins and he spent Saturday buying and planting azaleas.
Back to the subject of roommates; This one (his wife:another indicator)has to be the best ever.As much as we all love Holt,.Kristen has him beat in the roomie contest. I'm sure Holt would say that Melanie is his best roomie ever. I'm so proud of all of our grown up children. All of you are wonderful people. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to B'ham. Thank you for making me feel so welcome and so loved.

3.1 miles!!

Today Laura and I ran in the CROP 5K. It's an annual fund raiser for world hunger. We started in Ruston Park on Highland Ave. then to Five Points to Lakeview back to Highland. We ran it non stop in 36 minutes!! It was a breeze, well except for the hills. After the run, we enjoyed a few rounds of margaritas at Rojo. We started a program 6 weeks ago called "Couch to 10K". Each week we gain a little more distance. It really works!! Next up, the Bham Zoo Run! I bought the dorkiest pair of shoes but they make all the difference. I feel like I'm running on a cloud! I'll keep you posted on our progress!

lakeview reunion
Two years ago you could have found any one of us in Lakeview. On any Friday or Saturday. At basically any time of night. We haven't gone out in quite awhile, so we were all itching for a night in Lakeview. Here are some pics... (by the way, the one of brian on the floor is of him doing the infamous worm)

Picture of me....
By the way, that picture of me with the headset, there is a logical explanation. I was on a work conference call and my bluetooth was dead. I have a headset to use because my neck starts to hurt if I hold a regular phone for a long period of time.
Face-to-Face Conversation, the dead art
My blog tonight is a social commentary on this cell-phone driven society we live in. Yesterday, at a breakfast meeting with four coworkers, I was amazed at the lack of face-to-face conversation because of cell phone intrusion. There we were, sitting around a circular table facing each other, laptops open, and everyone's cell phone placed on the table at their right hand sides. Every time we would start to talk, one would ring, then the other, then the other. It was like we were playing freaking Simon there were so many sounds coming from each place at the table. I don't consider myself holier-than-thou, I realize I live in a glass house, my phone was buzzing off the table. What really amazed me was that none of these calls were urgent, no emergencies, no stock market crashes, no huge problem to solve. People were literally answering there phone to telling the person on the line, "Hey, can I call you back, I'm in a meeting." Why even answer? Just let it go to voicemail. It wasn't always like this. I use to be able to walk from the Haley Center, down the concourse, all the way to the KA house in complete silence. I would be willing to bet if you made that trek now, a majority of the people would be chatting away on their cell phones. It makes you wonder how we use to drum up attendance at a liquor bar on Thursday nights without such easy access. And what's up with the cell phone belt clips? Are they really that much different than fannypacks. And if I ever another ringtone of "Jesus Take The Wheel" I'm going to calmly take the phone and Riverdance on top of it.
Well, what are you going to do? Like Bruce Hornsby said, "That's just the way it is." I guess there are a lot of advantages. I probably couldn't live without mine. So we'll just press on, ringing, buzzing, bad ringtones, and texting. Blackberries, crackberries, pearls, razors, etc. It will never end. You said it right Bruce, it is the way it is, and somethings will never change. I'm sure I've missed a few calls typing this blog.

So, I got a new mac at work & have been cleaning off the old PC, which includes outlook and an email from Brian, reminiscing. I hope this brings back sweet memories to all!

It's all in the family.....

I'm really excited about this family blog. I think it's going to be a great way for everyone to keep up. Keep everyone in the "know" if you know what I mean. I myself am not too experienced with "blogging" so I"m not sure what proper protocol, subject matter, etc., etc... I'm hoping the learning curve is not too steep. I'm also trying to figure out what my call sign/send off will be at the end of each post to set myself apart. I'm sure I'll come up with something. A lot has been happening here on the Bailey front. One of the most exciting things happened this past weekend.
We were able to christen our new Jimmy Buffet margarita makers. It truly is an amazing machine. I haven't seen shaved ice that smooth since the Snoopy Snowcone Maker I used to have when I was living in Jackson, MS. Good old Jimmy managed to license his name to a suped-up blender that makes a damn proper drink. I was happy to have Clay witness this happen. Holt, by the way we can post video on this thing, you might could download the infamous Aww Skeet Skeet clip from Austin.
Well that's about it for my first blog, there will be more to come. May the wings of lady liberty never lose a feather.

Greetings from Lone Stars and Big Skies
Hi guys,
Just sending a hello from Melanie and myself from Austin. I hope you all are doing well. For those of you who are keeping up with the scorecards, we've had visits from Clay, Jeanna, Brian, Lee, Laura, and Dustin.
If your name is not listed above, you are on notice!
I hope everyone is doing well, seriously please let us know whenever you want to come for a visit. It's hard work keeping all this awesomeness to ourselves.

my new family & our new blog

Lately I have gotten obsessed with blogs... with reading them, finding new ones, looking into the lives of old and new friends. I have noticed that the majority of bloggers seem to have one, maybe two things in common... a spouse and either a dog(s) and/or children. I, however, do not have a dog or a child, but have recently gotten married and now have a husband (which halfway qualifies me to become a blogger). Along with Brian, I've also gained another family. So, I'm starting a blog. A family blog. The Thomas, Bailey & Granberry family blog. Here's to the beginning of the family blog! Enjoy!
